Dishwashers are often used a number of times per day, surviving a lot of wear and tear. Like any appliance, they can become damaged or broken, as with a cracked dishwashing rack where dishes are stored. Certain problems or dangers can occur due to cracked dishwashing racks, so if this does happen, repair the racks as soon as possible. - Broken dishwasher racks that are used continuously become worse as the crack becomes bigger and the rack falls apart more severely. When this occurs, sometimes the rack can become jammed within the dishwasher itself, rendering the dishwasher useless, as the rack won't slide in and out of the appliance without some real force, which can lead to permanently breaking of the rack or breaking dishes.
- Cracked dishwasher racks can lead to dishes breaking when loading or during the dishwashing cycle. Dishwashing racks are designed in a specific way to hold as many dishes as possible in the most efficient manner. When there is crack in the rack, dishes fall out of their natural position and can fall onto other dishes or break from the mechanism of the dishwasher itself, which will cost you dishes, create a mess within the appliance and possibly damage the operations of the dishwasher.
- When dishes break in the dishwasher due to the broken rack, these pieces can create problems within the operating mechanism for the dishwasher. They can jam the dishwashing motor or hoses, permanently breaking the machine or causing it to overheat, which can lead to an electrical short which is very dangerous to anyone using the dishwasher. It can also cause the appliance to malfunction and do unpredictable things like flood. The sooner the broken dishwasher racks are repaired, the smaller chance there is of something like this occurring.
