How to Estimate a Tank's Capacity

    • 1). Measure the length, depth and height of the tank in inches and write the measurements down. You will use these measurements to determine your aquarium's capacity.

    • 2). Multiply the three measurements from Step 1. The product is your aquarium's cubic area in inches.

    • 3). Multiply the cubic area of your aquarium that you found in Step 2 by 0.00433. The result is your aquarium's capacity in gallons.
