- 1). Blot up as much of the urine as possible. Press down over the spot firmly with a paper towel for at least 30 seconds. Do not rub. Repeat with a fresh paper towel until the next towel is dry after blotting.
- 2). Mix one qt. of warm water with ½ cup of white vinegar.
- 3). Cover the stain lightly with the mixture. Only use a small amount. For stains older than a few hours, use enough vinegar mixture to soak through the carpet and into the padding.
- 4). Place at least two folded paper towels over the spot. Place a paper weight or other heavy object over the paper towels.
- 5). Allow the mixture to sit for at least two hours.
- 6). Spray or sprinkle any brand of pet odor neutralizer over the spot. Read all instructions on the packaging before use. Sprays typically require you to blot up most of the spray. Powder versions require you to let the product sit for 15 to 20 minutes before vacuuming.
