How to Patch a Hole in a Pool Liner

    • 1). Open the kit and ensure you have all pieces of the kit before proceeding. The kit should include a length of repair material, tube of bonding agent and a soft plastic scraper.

    • 2). Measure the tear or hole and add an extra 2 inches to the length and width. Use this new measurement to cut a piece of the clear, vinyl repair material.

    • 3). Wipe the pool liner around the tear to remove debris or algae growth that may prevent the patch from sticking. Wipe gently with a washcloth to prevent enlarging the tear or hole.

    • 4). Cover the back of the vinyl patch with the sealant material or waterproof bonding adhesive.

    • 5). Press the adhesive or sealant into place over the hole or rip in the pool's liner. Apply the patch and bonding agent above, below or at the water's surface.

    • 6). Rub the surface of the patch with your hand or the soft plastic scraper included in your repair kit to remove air bubbles trapped between the pool liner and the patch.
