Lemnos is an island in the North Aegean Sea. In Greek mythology, Lemnos is where Hephaestus landed when he was hurled from Mt. Olympus. It is also the island where the infamous (Lemnian) women murdered all their husbands and where the wounded Philoctetes was left behind, by the Greeks bound for Troy.
