- 1). Check the connections to your dishwasher to see if the plug became loose.
- 2). Look for the drain air gap if your Magic Chef dishwasher will not drain. You will usually find the drain air gap on top of your kitchen sink or somewhere near your dishwasher. The drain gap is not part of your Magic Chef dishwasher, but represents a separate plumbing device your dishwasher needs in order to drain.
- 3). Lift the chrome cover off the drain air gap and remove the plastic cap by unscrewing it. Clean off any dirt build-up thoroughly using a clean cloth and soapy water.
- 4). Remove the drain line. The drain line can become clogged, preventing your dishwasher from draining. The blockages usually appear at the connection between the household drain line and the hose or the connection between the garbage disposal and hose. The drain line looks like a flexible hose, looped up, and attached to your garbage disposal or air gap. You will see a spring-type or screw clamp which you must open to remove the drain line.
- 5). Flush out the drain line with water to dislodge and remove the blockage.
- 6). Reattach the drain line to the air gap, or to the garbage disposal. Make certain you do not kink the hose; otherwise, you will have more clogs in the future.
- 7). Check for the removal of the garbage disposal knock out plug if you have a newly installed dishwasher and that you have a garbage disposal under your sink. If you still see the knock out plug intact, the water cannot drain. You will need to have your dishwasher installed correctly or do it yourself.
