If you have been dumped because you have bad habits and are possibly referred to as a slob, you may feel there is nothing you can do.
You may be trying to get to a more intimate level with your girlfriend when she suddenly realizes that you disgust her because you don't do your laundry and can't remember the last time you brushed your teeth.
This could lead to a devastating break up for you.
It is time to look yourself over objectively.
Admit your flaws.
Do you get lazy about shaving? Is your hair a scraggly mess? When was the last time you cut your fingernails? How often do you wash your dishes and do your laundry? Do you even remember the last time you cleaned your shower and toilet? These are reasons that a girl might break it off with you.
Once you know where your weaknesses are, you can go about fixing them.
You don't have to be the best housekeeper in the world.
Just throw your dishes in the dishwasher every other day.
Hire a maid service once or twice a month to scrub the bathroom for you if you really can't do it yourself.
A maid can help with the laundry as well, but it's really not that hard to toss some clothes in the machine and turn the dial! Start practicing good hygiene habits.
Take a shower daily - and shave and brush those teeth as well.
Even if you aren't leaving the house, do it anyway.
Habits aren't created if you skip days! Once you have your act literally and figuratively cleaned up, you can try to win back that ex-girlfriend who called you a slob.
Invite her over to see how clean your place is, send her pictures of your shiny tub by email.
Just prove to her that your home is not the pit of scum it once was! Maybe your girlfriend will be willing to reconsider getting back together with you.
She might have some doubts - that maybe all of this is a temporary thing to win her over and that soon you will fall back into your old, dirty habits.
Acknowledge her on these issues - she has a right to feel this way.
Admit that you are a work in progress but you are getting better.
Don't promise to do more housework if you know you can't or won't - but tell her you are willing to continue paying for a maid to help keep things up.
With a little luck, you will win your girlfriend back over by showing her you are a changed - and clean - man.
But even if it doesn't work out with your ex, at least you know that your new habits will help you to keep the next girlfriend - she won't be breaking up with you because you are a slob, of that much you are now sure!
