How to Repair a Stuck Float

    • 1). Be sure the engine is cool before you begin. Remove the fuel line from the fuel inlet on the float bowl using an open end wrench.

    • 2). Remove the float bowl from the carburetor body by removing the four attaching bolts. It may be necessary to tap lightly on the float bowl to loosen it.

    • 3). Reach inside the float bowl, and bend the float arm to relieve any binding. Maintain at least 1/8-inch clearance between the float and the float bowl.

    • 4). Reattach the float bowl to the carburetor body, using new gaskets if necessary. Be careful not to over tighten the attaching bolts; hand tighten only.

    • 5). Reattach the fuel line to the carburetor.
