How to Make Stuff With Fleece Material

    Sewing Fleece Projects

    • 1). Find a pattern for clothing you want to make with fleece. Shirts, hats and jackets are patterns that work well with fleece, but you can choose whatever pattern you like.

    • 2). Lay your pattern over the fleece. The amount of fleece needed will depend on your pattern.

    • 3). Pin the pattern to your fleece with straight pins just outside the cut lines on the pattern and cut along the cutting lines with sewing scissors.

    • 4). Remove the pattern pieces and pins and sew your pieces together by hand or with a sewing machine. Follow the recommendations of the pattern on exactly where to sew and which types of hems or finishing to use. Use a universal needle size of 70 for sewing machines.

    No-Sew Fleece Projects

    • 1). Cut two 24-by-24-inch squares of fleece to make a pillow or two 5-by-6-foot rectangles to make a blanket.

    • 2). Lay your fleece pieces on top of each other so the edges match up.

    • 3). Cut a fringe along each edge. Cut each slit 1 inch apart and 3 inches long along all four sides.

    • 4). Tie each strip in the fringe to the strip under it, on the bottom piece of fleece. Do only three sides if you are making a pillow, and all four if you are making a blanket. The blanket will be finished at this point.

    • 5). Stuff cotton batting into the open side of the pillow until it is as fluffy as you want it and tie the strips together in knots along the open edge to close it.
