- 1). Measure the slacks on the person who will be wearing them. Determine the length you want. Place pins every two inches parallel to the ground to mark this measurement.
- 2). Turn the slacks inside out and fold the pant leg up so that the pins are even with the fold. Press the fold with an iron. Remove the pins.
- 3). Pull down the fabric so that it is 1.5 inches longer than the crease that indicates the desired length. Use a sewing gauge to make sure the fabric is 1.5 inches longer evenly around the whole cuff. Place a pin every two inches along the 1.5-inch mark to indicate the measurement. Slide the slack leg down so that the fold is even with the pins.
- 4). Use an iron to crease the slack at the longer length. Use enough steam to create a sharp crease.
- 5). Turn the slacks right side out. Fold the pants into a 1.5-inch cuff. Use a sewing gauge to make sure the slack cuff is even all the way around. Use an iron to crease the fabric.
- 6). Fold the cuff back down. Sew the hem into the cuff about one inch from the bottom of the slack leg all the way around.
- 7). Fold the cuff back up. Tack the cuff into place by sewing a line even with the side seams down the length of the cuff. Repeat for the other side seam. Repeat the process for the other slack leg.
