Ark of the Covenant
- Talk to your class about a special kind of work the Israelites did to honor God by building a temple. Discuss types of work that parents do and work that children can do, and lead the class in building a model of the Ark of the Covenant. Younger children can glue together gold-painted craft sticks to form a box shape with an angel on top; older children can paint a small box gold and glue it to gold-painted dowel rods. Trace angel shapes onto heavy gold paper and add them to the top of the ark while you talk about the huge amount of work that went into the temple and why it was important. Explain to students that God is honored by both big tasks, like the temple, and smaller tasks, like being kind to others.
