How to Find a Pool Liner Leak

    • 1). Walk around the outside of the pool and look for any puddles on the ground. If you find one, the leak will likely be in that area.

    • 2). Get in the pool and inspect for leaks big enough to be seen. Focus most on the part of the liner up against pumps, valves, filters, and other mechanisms. Leaks are most likely to form in between the liner and these mechanisms.

    • 3). Put a few drops of food coloring or some other safe dye into the areas of the water near possible leaks. Watch where the food coloring travels. If a leak is nearby, the food coloring will be pulled in that direction. Follow it until you've located the damaged liner.
