- 1). Place the Windows startup floppy disk into the floppy drive.
- 2). Restart the computer. The computer boots up using the floppy disk. Select the "Start computer without CD-ROM support" menu option. You are now at the command prompt.
- 3). Type "fdisk" at the command prompt and hit "Enter." A prompt will ask what file format you will be using.
- 4). Press "Y" on your keyboard for the FAT32 file format and press "Enter."
- 5). Choose "Create DOS Partition" by pressing the "1" on the keyboard.
- 6). Press "Y" to use the maximum disk space.
- 7). Press "Enter" to create the partition.You have now created a new partition on the hard drive.
- 8). Press "ESC" to get back to the main screen. Press "ESC" to exit out fdisk and restart the computer.
