- There might be a medical reason for reduced sexual desire in a man. It could be linked to erectile dysfunction. This can happen at any age, but it especially happens to older men. There might be a problem with a man being able to become erect. There might also be a problem with maintaining erections. This can lead to reduced sexual desire.
- Emotions can also play a role in reduced sexual desire in men. Stress and anxiety do not help. Stress can actually help the arteries to constrict, which reduces the blood supply to the penis. Men should try to relax and be calm and not let stress overcome their daily lives.
- Depression is an emotional and psychological reason for men to have reduced sexual desire. Since depression is known for making people not to want to do anything at all, it is not surprising that it also reduces sexual desire in a man that is dealing with depression. Plus, some of the anti-depressants given by doctors also make men not able to medically want to have sex. It takes the desire away.
- Besides anti-depressants there are other medications that make a man have reduced sexual desire. Blood pressure and heart medications do that too. Sedatives and anti-histamines also lower sexual desire in men. Men who also self-medicate with alcohol and recreational drugs might see that that they have lowered sexual desire.
- Many times illness can make a man have reduced sexual desire. Just a normal illness such as a cold or flu can make a man have reduced sexual desire. However, sometimes a more serious illness can have that effect. Conditions such as diabetes and heart disease retard sexual desire because they both diseases affect the arteries.
- There are many other issues that make a man have reduced sexual desire. Some are because there is an excess or deficiency in vitamins and nutrients. Others have reduced sexual desire because they just think sex is a naughty thing to do.
