- 1). Log on to your PC computer with an administrator account.
- 2). Open the Start menu and click on the "My Computer" icon. This will bring up a list of all drives and partitions currently connected on your computer.
- 3). Double-click on the partition that you want to change to read-only.
- 4). Right-click on one of the folders that appears in the next window and choose "Properties."
- 5). Check the box next to "Read-only" under the "Attributes" section of the properties window.
- 6). Click "OK" to save the settings and make that part of the partition read-only.
- 7). Repeat Steps 4-6 for all of the other folders on the root level of the partition. Once you have completed this, all of the data on the selected partition will be read-only.
