- 1). Turn off your Inspiron 3800 and unplug the battery from its port on the bottom of the computer.
- 2). Use your fingers or the tip of your screwdriver to pop the rubber screw covers off of each of the screws on the plastic frame surrounding the LCD frame. Four screws are on the top of the frame and two screws are on the bottom corners.
- 3). Remove the screws on the frame.
- 4). Pull the frame away from the screen by the sides.
- 5). Unplug the cables from either end of the green inverter board located just below the screen.
- 6). Remove the four screws (two on each bracket) from the metal brackets on either side of the screen.
- 7). Tilt the screen forward and unplug the single ribbon cable from the back of it.
- 8). Remove the screen itself from the brackets and fit a new one in its place. Reassemble the 3800 in the reverse order you took it apart.
