- 1). Turn your stud finder over. Grasp the device by the sides of the handle or the base.
- 2). Use your other hand to press the battery cover's tab up. If you cannot perform this function with your hand, use a flat-head screwdriver instead. The battery cover will pop open.
- 3). Remove the 9-volt battery from the device's battery slot. Insert the new battery. Ensure the positions of the "+" and "-" markings on the battery match the markings on the case.
- 4). Replace the battery cover. Turn the stud finder back on.
