Life... is Beautiful!

LIFE… IS BEAUTIFUL!

    By: Yves Mechaka

Many years ago, in a Galaxy far, far away (Beautiful and freezing Canada), I was driving with my kids one day, deeply lost in my darkest thoughts. I had lost my job recently, after eleven years of loyal service, when I heard my eldest son calling my name:

- Dad! Dad! Dad!

- Yes? I said absent mindedly, barely glancing at him, trying to focus on the road in front of me.

- I am glad I was born.

- Euh...What did you say son?

- I said: I am glad I was born, repeated my son, patiently.

- Why? I replied, bewildered.

- Because Life is Beautiful!

I was stunned, flabbergasted to say the least. Once his words made their way through my numbness, I suddenly felt uplifted: My 5 year old son had just taught me my biggest lesson in life.

From that moment on and throughout good and bad times, I knew my life would always be Beautiful.

Many people wonder why I am so often (but not always) happy and energized. My response is constantly the same: "Because Life is Beautiful".

You see, since my little angel pronouced those magical words - Life is Beautiful - I try to abide by the following simple rules:

         1.    Think Positively – Life will always bring you its share of ups and downs, but as               long as you can remain optimistic, without being naïve, you will always succeed in                 seeing your glass as half full instead of half empty.

          2.    Stay Healthy – "A sound Mind in a sound Body". The most important challenge             in Life is to stay healthy, for you can confront all your problems if you are in good                 health. Help yourself by getting and staying in shape.

          3.    Forgive and Forget – This is not always easy to achieve, but if you don't try to             move on, then you will always remain bitter and will end up hurting yourself. Life is                 sometimes unfair, not to mention cruel, but don't let your bad experiences grow to                 become a burden. Learn from them and then dispose of them.

          4.    Be Happy – Enjoy laughter and surround yourself with people that care about               you. They will make you feel loved and sheltered. Family and true friends are and will           always remain your cornerstone.

                 And remember…"Life truly is Beautiful"!
