Always protect yourself with gloves and goggles.working gloves image by Alexey Klementiev from Fotolia.com
Wear protective gloves and eye wear at all times.
Lay the piece of glass on several pieces of newspaper; this is your work surface while cutting the glass. Use the permanent marker to draw the shape of the pendant onto the glass. If this is your first try, try a simple shape such as a rectangle. Use templates, rulers or trace a shape from a sheet of paper placed beneath the glass. - 2). Using a glass cutter, cut the shape. The glass cutter does not cut through the glass, it scores it. Hold the cutter straight up so that the wheel is perpendicular to the glass. Apply even, heavy pressure as you score the glass. It is best to do this in a standing position so that you can position your body over the piece of glass and apply even pressure. Do not go over the scoring a second time because it will damage the cutter.

Wide, flat pliers are used for breaking the glass.red pliers image by green308 from Fotolia.com
Use glass pliers (wide-nosed, flat pliers) to nip away the glass. It will break away along the scored line. If you have a curved shape, remove bits of glass around the shape, working your way slowly into the curve. Nibble the glass away with the pliers rather than trying to break off a large chunk, scoring as necessary as you go along. - 1

Wrap the copper foil around the edge of the glass. It will bunch up around concave curves. If it is too bulky, use scissors to cut away some of the foil. Wrap all the way around the glass piece and overlap it about 1/26 inch. It would be best to start and end about where you would like the jump ring for hanging the pendant. - 2). Press the copper foil down to make sure it is tight. Using an inexpensive paintbrush, apply liquid flux to the copper foil.

Smooth the solder with the soldering iron if you have lumps of solder.lead & glass - 2 image by John Sfondilias from Fotolia.com
Holding the jump ring into place with pliers or tongs, attach it to the glass piece with solder. Heat the solder until it flows and quickly remove the soldering iron once it has become liquid. The solder will quickly solidify, holding the jump ring into place. Cover the rest of the foil with solder so that none of the copper shows through. Using the flat end of the soldering tip, smooth the solder.
