- 1). Open your Web browser and navigate to the iTunes download Web page at apple.com/itunes/download.
- 2). Click to select or deselect the email update options. If you choose to receive any of these updates, you must enter your email address in the corresponding entry field. You do not need to enter this information to download iTunes, only to receive additional updates and special offers.
- 3). Click the "Download Now" button located on the left side of the screen.
- 4). Click "Run" from the File Download dialog box. A security dialog box may appear on computers running Windows Vista and Windows 7. Confirm the installation to continue. When prompted to choose the components for installation, select both iTunes and QuickTime, then follow the prompts to complete the setup process.
- 1). Connect the iPod 5G to the computer using the USB cable that came with the device. The first time you connect your iPod Nano 5G to the computer after installing iTunes, the software automatically opens and the iPod Nano Setup Assistant dialog box appears. This walks you through the process of configuring iTunes to work with your iPod device.
- 2). Choose a name for your iPod and enter it in the corresponding field. The name you choose is what iTunes will display the iPod as within the device listing found on the left side of the iTunes screen.
- 3). Select the desired synchronization settings and click "Done" to configure iTunes. By default, iTunes automatically syns whenever you connect the iPod to the computer. If you do not want this to occur, select the manual sync option. Also choose whether to use the VoiceOver feature; if you do, additional instructions appear, prompting you to download and install the needed software. If you select automatic syncing, the process begins immediately after you complete the iTunes configuration.
