To be eligible to work as a CNA in New York, one must follow the requirements of NY Federal, statute and regulations.

State of New York:Renewing Certification (1) A pre-printed re-certification form will be mailed out to the CNA 2- 3 months prior to your expiration date.
If you still do not receive any notice, you may obtain a renewal form by contacting New York Nurse Aide Registry or visiting the State Registry website.
(2) Requirement for renewal is that you must be employed, performing nursing or nursing-related services for at eight hours for pay within the past 24 months.
(3) Completed form with required documents and fees must be mailed to the address indicated in the form.
To renew Expired CNA Certification in New York: (1) Contact New York Nurse Aide Registry.
(2) If registry provide form, completed form with required documents and fees must be mailed to the address indicated in the form.
New York: Applying for Reciprocity If an approved CNA moves to New York from their home state, the applicant must contact the New York Nurse Aide Registry to obtain a transfer/reciprocity form.
Completed form with required documents and fees must be submitted by mail.
In addition, an applicant must have good standing status in their home state and their CNA certification is still active.
Once it is approve, applicants name will be listed to Registry and will be eligible to work in New York as a CNA.
