How to set up your new home.

• 1). Ensure you do this before your drywall has been put up.
  
  
• 2). Get a rough idea of how you plan to lay out your home. Envision where you want kitchen appliances, as well as televisions, computers, phones and fax machine. Keep in mind that you can now purchase cordless phone packages that will run off one phone jack. Think also of where you might want a second or even third phone line. Also keep in mind that, despite the advent of wireless Internet, wired Internet still runs significantly faster--just in case you need to download big files.
  
  
• 3). Install the electrical boxes everywhere you need any type of outlet.
  
  
• 4). Establish where you will be placing your Internet router, where your cable or satellite feed will enter the house, where your phone line(s) enter the home and so on. Run wires from these locations to the electrical boxes.
  
  
• 5). After you install the drywall, hook up the wall plates where necessary.
