How to Clean a Solid Pool Safety Cover

    • 1). Pump off standing water from your solid pool safety cover throughout the off season using a pool cover pump. If snow or ice accumulate on the cover, wait until it melts and then pump off the resulting water.

    • 2). Brush off any debris that is left behind after the water is pumped off using a long-handled broom. This debris might include leaves, sticks and other organic matter.

    • 3). Follow the previous cleaning steps when opening your pool for the first time at the beginning of the season. Before removing it for further cleaning, pump off the water and remove debris.

    • 4). Remove the solid pool safety cover from your pool. This will likely involve removing clamps or other fastening devices from the sides and then carefully folding it or sliding it off the pool. Having a few friends help you can make the process easier.

    • 5). Lay the solid pool safety cover onto a flat surface, such as your driveway, and hose it off to remove any remaining debris.

    • 6). Scrub any noticeably dirty or stained areas with a scrub brush and a mild soap. Rinse again with your hose.

    • 7). Allow the solid pool safety cover to dry before folding it up and storing it for the summer.
