- 1). Place interesting rock samples in your landscaping. Large boulders with colorful minerals or interesting textures can add a focal point to the beds, while small and medium-sized samples can make a rock garden.
- 2). Donate small rock samples to a nearby school. Children as young as those in first grade study the properties of rocks and minerals; therefore, most elementary schools, middle schools, high schools or colleges would likely accept your rock samples for use by their students and staff.
- 3). Give the rock samples to a local youth organization such as Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, or an after-school program. These programs may provide children with learning experiences that involve science.
- 4). Sell your rock samples. Collectors will sell or purchase large or interesting rock samples online and in person at rock and gem shows.
