- 1). Measure the space first before going shopping. To get an idea of how the painting will fit, take sheets of paper and put them on the wall in the size that works for the space. You don’t want to pick out a painting that you love only to realize that it doesn’t fit into the space.
- 2). Evaluate the colors in the room where the painting will go. Make sure that it works in its surroundings. The painting should match and complement the other colors in the room so that it blends perfectly, like it was made just for that space.
- 3). Choose a painting that you are drawn to. If you’re not in love with the painting and you just sort of like it, then it’s going to completely ruin the feel of the room. You want to choose something that makes you feel positive when you look at it.
- 4). Shop around a bit. Don’t buy a painting just because you want to buy a painting. Make sure that it’s the right painting. Don’t hesitate to take weeks or even months until you find one that is perfect for you and fits well into your home.
- 5). Don’t hesitate to buy from unknown artists. Sometimes the artists who aren’t so well known are the ones who have the most passionate paintings.
