If you buy a cat bed, there is a good chance your cat will never sleep in it.
This is because cats will generally sleep where they want to.
Your cat will find a spot in your house that looks most comfortable to him.
It might be a pile of dirty clothes, a couch, your bed, a computer monitor, a bathroom sink, or maybe even his new cat bed.
But oftentimes it is not the cat bed.
That does not mean you can not, or should not, get your cat a bed of his own.
After all, your cat considers everything in the house is his, and he might just take to his bed also.
Comfortable places to sleep are important to cats, as they sleep about 2/3rds out of every day.
One of the best beds you can make available for your cat is a cat tree.
A perch on top is perfect for sleeping, and cats enjoy looking down at people, dogs, and other things from the top.
Cat perches that attach to window seals are available, and they provide your cat with a place to take a nap while the world goes by.
It also offers an indoor cat a place to get some sun.
If you still would like to buy an actual cat bed for your friend, with the knowledge that he may not ever use it, then soft, oval and round beds are popular with some cats, while cushions are the favorites of others.
Still others like a hammock to sleep in.
You might have to experiment with several kinds of beds to find the right one.
Fabric beds that are sewn into the whole bed are not recommended.
They can harbor flea eggs and larvae, so make sure the bed you buy has a removable cover so you can wash it frequently.
