- 1). Buy beads with holes that are large enough to fit over the needle. Buy a variety of beads in assorted colors, shapes, and sizes. Search antique stores, garage sales, and thrift stores for old broaches, earrings, and pins that you can use to decorate your hatpins.
- 2). Arrange your beads on the needle in a pattern you like. If you have a floral broach, line one or two beads on the needle, then top the beads with the broach.
- 3). Use an instant adhesive such as super glue to make the beads and jewelry adhere immediately to the needle. Place a dab of glue on the bottom of the bead, then immediately slide the bead onto the needle, inserting the needle through the side of the hole where you applied the glue. Hold the bead there for a few moments. Release it slowly to make sure the bead is stuck, then allow it to dry for a few minutes. Put more glue on the top of the bead, and lay the broach flat on top of the bead's surface, allowing the glue to dry thoroughly.
