Video: How to Extract Kindle Books on a Mac

Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Skylar. If you want to extract content from a Kindle book there is a utility you might want to check out. It's right here at this website, www.ebook-converter.com and they make something called DRM removal. So it's a simple little utility. Download it and once you downloaded it you'll see your download folder. Open up the disc image and you'll see this. Drag the file in to your applications folder and then launch it from your applications folder right here. The interface is pretty straightforward. Looks like this. So you click, select an ebook. This by the way is assuming that you already installed the Kindle reader on your Mac. That's the first and most important thing. So here's the Kindle reader and I can see all the content that is stored within Kindle on my Mac. So here I am back at the application and I would just select a book. So for example the one I did already was right here so I selected it and then you click removal DRM and we see a readout of what it's doing. The first one I tried doing didn't work but the second one did. And it puts it in to a folder for you. Right here. It calls it Kindle DRM removal and sticks it in your documents folder. So now I've got a mobi file and the mobi file can be translated in to whatever else I want. Say just a plain old ebook without DRM. That's how you extract information from a Kindle file on a Mac. Thanks for watching. I'm Skylar.
