How to Use OS X to Copy a DVD

    • 1). Insert the DVD that you want to copy into the disc drive on your Mac computer.

    • 2). Launch the Disk Utility application. The program can be found in the "Utilities" folder.

    • 3). Click on the "New Image" button at the top of the window.

    • 4). Select "DVD/CD Master" from the "Image Format" drop-down menu. Make sure "Encryption" is set to "None."

    • 5). Click on the "Save" button to begin creating an image of the DVD. This process can take more than an hour to complete.

    • 6). Eject the DVD from the computer and insert a blank DVD-R.

    • 7). Highlight the image file you just created from the list on the left side of the window.

    • 8). Press the "Burn" button at the top of the window, choose what speed you want to burn the DVD at and then hit "Burn" again. Disk Utility will now create a copy of the original DVD.
