Fun & Easy Teen Girl Crafts

    Handmade Scrapbook

    • Homemade scrapbooks can vary widely in dimension and size, according to your choice. Purchase pre-punched page protectors, then cut front and back covers out of cardboard or chipboard sized 1/2 to 1 inch larger than the page protectors. Most scrap cardboard works well. Decorate the covers as desired, using a variety of scrapbook papers, inks, paints, stickers, stamps, glitter, beads, buttons, brads and other embellishments of choice. Create scrapbook pages with or without photos -- every detail is customizable, giving the teens plenty of the freedom of expression that so many of them cherish. Suggest themed albums to help focus their creative choices, such as "The A-B-Cs of Me," "My Junior Prom" and "My Summer Vacation."

    Door Hanger

    • Craft door hangers that teens can use for their bedrooms, bathrooms and lockers or even as wall decorations. Priced for less than $1 at most craft stores as of 2011, blank door hangers are easy to decorate with scrapbook papers, paint, ink stamps, stickers, glitter and other embellishments. Cover the decorated door hanger with a layer of decoupage sealant to protect it with a glossy or matte finish.

    Journal

    • Purchase a plain blank journal or composition book. Cover the outside with a glue stick or decoupage medium. Adhere light-weight cardstock or decorative scrapbook paper to the front and back covers. Mitre the corners neatly and glue a piece of white or coordinating colored paper on the inside covers to hide the seams. Add further decorations to the front including stamps, flowers, punches, ink, paint, stickers and other embellishments. Apply a decoupage medium over the finished project for a beautiful matte or glossy finish.

    T-Shirt Decoration

    • Many teen girls have T-shirts as a staple of their wardrobes. Decorating T-shirts is an inexpensive craft with the added bonus of providing the teens with personalized fashion statements. Purchase tie-dye supplies and white or colored T-shirts, which are available at reasonable prices in many craft stores, to create hippie-style shirts. Foam stamps and fabric paints provide another inexpensive T-shirt decorating option. Trim fringe onto the edge of the shirt for extra flair.
