- 1). Open the hood of your car and secure it in position.
- 2). Remove both headlight assemblies from the front of the car by unscrewing any bolts that hold the pieces in place.
- 3). Identify where on the car chassis, you wish to put your holes for the pins. Use a measuring tape to ensure that the holes are symmetrical to each other and mark them with the marker. Use a drill to drill the holes in the chassis for the pins.
- 4). Install the pins into the chassis and tighten them. Add a dollop of vaseline to the top of the pins and slowly close the hood on to the pins. The vaseline will mark where you will need to drill through the hood.
- 5). Open the hood and, using a drill and small drill bit, drill a small hole through the areas marked with vaseline. Slowly close the hood again to ensure the pin clears the hole.
- 6). Tape over and around the hole in the hood with painters tape to prevent scratches.
- 7). Align the stencil provided with your hood pins above the hole in the hood and slowly use the power rotary tool to cut out the required shape for the pin’s latch mechanism. Remove the tape and use the sanding attachments to smooth out the cut areas of the hood.
- 8). Install the latches into the hood by inserting them into the holes in the hood and screwing them in place. Tighten the screws until they are secure.
- 9). Slowly close the hood on the pins to ensure everything lines up perfectly. Lock the latch and pin mechanism to finish.
