- Aveeno Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion mixes lotion with self-tanner, providing you with a tan while moisturizing your skin for a soft and supple appearance. The bottle has a dial on top that allows you to slowly increase the amount of tanner you apply to your skin every day. Therefore, you look more natural as you increase your tan from barely-there to sun kissed in the space of a few days. The lotion retails for about $15 as of April 2011.
- Some self-tanners smell too strongly of chemicals. L'Occitane's Sunshine lotion is infused with vegetable oil from the pleasant-smelling castanha nut. The Sunshine lotion is chemical free and works gradually, giving you a natural looking, radiant glow. As of April 2011, L'Occitane's Sunshine lotion retails for approximately $25.
- If you need a tan in a hurry, turn to Guerlain Terracotta's Sunless Self-Tanning Balm. The balm is more thick and oily than self-tanning lotions, but it gives a slight bronze tint right away. Although the balm is thick, it's not sticky, so you can use it right before putting on clothes without worrying about ruining them. Guerlain Terracotta's balm is an investment, at approximately $50 as of April 2011.
- Clarins Self-Tanning Instant Gel applies clear but leaves the most natural color, according to O Magazine. The gel applies thickly so you can tell if you've missed any spots during application. The results appear within two hours of application. As of April 2011, Clarins self-tanner is approximately $30.
