How to Use the USB Port to Charge External Devices

    • 1). Power on the computer. You can't draw power from the USB port unless the computer is on and not in sleep mode.

    • 2). Plug the USB cable into the USB data port on the device. If you are using a wireless phone the USB cable plugs into the power port on the device.

    • 3). Connect the other end of the USB cable into one of the USB ports on the computer. Momentarily the computer states it has detected a new removable device.

    • 4). Leave the device connected to the computer's USB port. The longer it stays connected, the fuller the battery charge.
