- 1). Thoroughly wash and dry the area you wish to wax. Clean skin will result in an easier application of the sugaring paste or wax and a cleaner hair removal. Be sure the area is completely dried off before applying any hair removal-products to avoid missed spots and unnecessary reapplication. To ensure dry, prepped skin, apply a light, even layer of baby powder to the specific area to be sugared.
- 2). For best results use a salon-quality sugaring paste or wax from a prepackaged kit. Results with professional kits last longer and cause less irritation, in general. If you prefer to make your own sugaring solution mix lemon juice, water and sugar together and heat the solution in a pot on the stove until completely blended, thickened and amber in color. Suggestions for amounts of ingredients vary depending on skin type, size of area to be waxed and sensitivity, but it is generally recommended that the mixture contain equal parts water and lemon juice, with enough sugar to create a thick solution. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature before applying to the skin.
- 3). Smooth the paste onto the skin in a thin, even layer, against the direction of the hair growth. For best results use a small spatula or depressor to evenly cover the surface area.
- 4). Apply cotton strip over the paste. Firmly, gently press the strip over the paste.
- 5). Pull the strip off the skin in the direction of hair growth. Be careful to pull in the correct direction to avoid unnecessary irritation.
- 6). Remove any additional, unnecessary paste from the skin with warm water and cloth. Gently dab or wipe away the solution.
