Facebook: Successful Marketing

Currently, Facebook has around 400 million active users and growing! If you are running an online business, and not currently using Facebook to promote your business, it is definitely a vehicle worth exploring.
Facebook offers users a small display ad shown on the rightside bar of Facebook pages and profiles, in which you can promote your business.
Who are you looking to attract? Your ideal target people are on Facebook - the trick is how to find them.
Facebook is a brilliant tool, in tat Facebook allows you to target exactly the type of people you want to see your ad.
You can target your audience by age, gender, education, geography, workplace, interests and keywords.
Ensure you use a catchy heading that grabs peoples attention and shows readers they will receive value by visiting your site.
Beneath the heading, you will have up to 135 characters in your ad.
Facebook also allows you to decide on whether you want your ad to lead people directly to a website you have, or to a page application you can set up for free on Facebook (such as a fan page, an event or application).
This can sometimes (depending on your opportunity) allow you to direct people to a couple of your sites, offering different values to your prospects.
Make sure you decide on your budget! Facebook advertising is similar to AdWords, in that you bid for keywords and compete to have your ad shown.
You have the choice between a pay per click option (where you pay each time someone clicks on your ad), or an option where you pay for 1000 ad views.
Both options are effective.
Personally, I have mostly used the pay per click option and have found that the most effective for me, but you really need to trial and decide which you prefer.
When you chose one of the options here, Facebook allows you to set your budget so you will know exactly what it will cost you.
Once you have an ad up and running, my advice would be to always test your ads.
To test your ads, it is a good idea to create multiple ads versions, so you can see how each ad is performing and work out which wording is converting better and is proving most effective.
You will then always have an ad that is achieving great results.
Ensure you also test your images, this is the first thing people see so you want an image that attracts readers attention.
