- 1). Remove the negative battery cable from the Ford battery using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Connect the amplifier ring terminal to the positive lead of the battery. Remove the fuse from the ring terminal. Run the ring terminal to the interior of the Ford via the same route as the power supply to the stereo.
- 2). Remove the Ford stereo deck. Place the DIN removal tools into the two groups of holes on either side of the stereo face. Pull outward to grab the stereo, then pull toward you to remove it from its dock. Pull the stereo far enough to access the wires connections in the rear.
- 3). Disconnect the wire groups from the back of the stereo, then reconnect them through a wiring harness adapter. The adapter provides a uniform base for adding components of varying make and model. The wire groups will connect to the adapter the same way they connect to the stereo.
- 4). Connect the turn-on lead and signal cable to the wiring harness adapter. Route both cables to the location of the amplifier. If the amp is in the rear of the Ford, use a trim pry tool to remove the panels in the doorways securing the carpeting. Lay the cables beneath the carpeting. Replace the panels by hand when finished.
- 5). Run the power supply (from the battery) on the opposite side of the vehicle, to the location of the amplifier. Connect the turn-on lead, the signal cable, and the power supply to the amplifier.
- 6). Connect speaker wire from the amplifier to the speakers you wish to have amplified. Use the same path established by the rear speakers to the stereo.
- 7). Replace the Ford stereo into the dash. Slide the unit into its dock until it locks into place. There will be an audible "click" when the stereo is fully seated.
- 8). Reconnect the negative battery cable to the Ford battery. Place the clamp around the negative lead. Tighten the clamp using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
