- 1). Cut out the opening where your speaker wires enter the wall to match the size of the junction box. Most junction boxes come with a template -- trace that onto the wall if necessary.
- 2). Insert the speaker wires at the wall opening into the openings on the back of the junction box. Insert the junction box into the wall and turn the screws at the top and bottom to engage the dogs that hold the box in place in the opening.
- 3). Trim off any excess speaker wire so that each piece of speaker wire extends out only an inch or so beyond the front of the box. Remove 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of each wire.
- 4). Loosen the screws on the back side of the speaker wire terminals and slide the wires underneath the screws, one wire per screw, matching the positive speaker wires to the positive terminals and the negative to the negative.
- 5). Place the terminals into the box and secure with screws at the top and bottom. Place the cover onto the box and secure with screws.
