How to Install a Car Sound Box to a Home Theater

    • 1). Cut two lengths of electrical hook-up wire. Connect the positive on the power converter to the positive on the car amplifier. Connect the negative on the car amplifier to the negative on the power converter.

    • 2). Cut one 3- to 4-inch length of electrical hook-up wire. Connect one end to the positive connection on the car stereo amplifier to the remote "turn on" terminal of the amplifier. This connection will power the car amplifier when the power converter is plugged into the electrical outlet.

    • 3). Cut lengths of speaker wire long enough to reach from the car amplifier to your home theater speakers. Use the wire strippers to remove the last ½ inch of plastic insulation from both ends of each length of wire. Connect one end to the right speaker connection on the car amplifier and the other end of a wire to the home theater speaker's right connection. Do the same for the left speaker.

    • 4). Connect your television or other audio source to the back of the car amplifier using RCA style cables. The cables are color coded and should be connected to the corresponding colors on the back of the audio source and on the car amplifier.

    • 5). Turn the volume all the way down on your sound equipment and turn the gain control on the car amplifier to 1/2 position. Plug the 12-volt AC/DC power converter into the electrical outlet. Turn on the power converter and adjust the volume and gain control to the desired levels.
