How to Erase Videos From a Hard Drive

    • 1). Click on the "Start" button at the lower left corner of the computer screen. Choose "Computer" from the pop-up menu.

    • 2). Search your hard drive for the files that contain video extensions. Type ".MOV" (without quotations), for example, into the "Search Computer" box in the upper right corner of the page. Click on the "Search" icon.

    • 3). Delete the files on the search results page that end with a ".MOV" extension. Click on each file to highlight, then right-click and select "Delete" from the menu. Repeat for each file.

    • 4). Repeat the file search and deletion process using the ".ASF," ".WMV," ".AVI," ".MPEG" and ".RM" file extensions to find and remove all video files.

    • 5). Close all open windows and right-click on the "Recycle Bin" icon on your desktop. Choose "Empty Recycle Bin" from the drop-down menu to permanently remove the video files from the hard drive.
