How to Kill Moss in Paving Stones

    • 1). Remove the moss growing in between paving stones with a trowel or other suitable tool. It will likely return, so continual pulling will be necessary, as will limiting its ability to grow back, such as by increasing sunlight exposure.

    • 2). Spray a product labeled to kill moss, such as one that contains potassium salts or zinc sulfate. Use as directed on the label, applying it carefully and on a calm day when rain is not expected for at least 24 hours.

    • 3). Apply chlorine bleach diluted with 3 parts water to the pavers and let it sit for 30 minutes or more. Use a nylon scrub brush to scrub the moss right off. Be careful not to get the bleach on wanted grass or plants, or it may cause damage.

    • 4). Power wash the moss off the paving stones, but be careful not to harm nearby grass and plants in the process. Use a power washer as instructed in the user’s manual.
