- The birth of a new baby is one of the most exciting and anticipated events. Parents and grandparents can't wait to shout it from the rooftops, while friends and family look forward to receiving news of the birth. Birth announcements can be as fun to make as they are to receive, especially when you use a little originality when creating them.
- Feature your future Little League champ on his very own baseball card birth announcement. These can be easily created in photo editing software. Add the baby's name and your favorite sport's team logo or a made-up one. On the opposite side of the card, print the baby's vital statistics with a fun biography. Add cute phrases like, "he's leading the league in stolen kisses."
- Create an identification card birth announcement in the form of a passport or driver's license. Affix a photo of the baby in the corner of the card and use a stencil to fill in the pertinent information, such as name, height, weight, date of birth, etc., then laminate the cards with a machine or contact paper. This can also be done digitally with most photo editing software programs.
- Instead of a card, create a flier announcement featuring the baby in an old-fashioned "Wanted" poster. Glue a photo or two to the top of the paper and scrawl the baby's name underneath in big letters with all the information following. The baby can be wanted for things like, "stealing hearts," or, "being too cute." Photocopy the master flier and print copies, preferably with a sepia tone imposed on it to give an old-fashioned feel. Roll up the wanted poster birth announcements and tie them with twine, or seal them with wax.
- Create a pretty garden theme birth announcement with floral punches and rubber stamps. Layer the images and die cuts on card stock. Add an earthy touch by using specialty papers that are handmade, or mulberry paper with its muted colors and natural fibers. Take a photo of the baby and crop closely around her body with scissors or a craft knife, and you have the perfect little paper doll to glue on top of a mushroom or open blossom.
- Introduce your sweet baby to the world with a candy bar wrapper birth announcement. If you discard the paper sleeve for your favorite chocolate bars, you can measure the size and recreate your own. Affix the baby's picture to the front of the bar, or print it on the wrapper. Use stencils and rubber stamps to hand-decorate the wrapper.
