- 1). Wash and dry the aluminum with a mild detergent before buffing. Any dust or debris on the aluminum before buffing will be pressed into the finish and could potentially scratch the aluminum.
- 2). Spread a thin layer of buffing compound onto the aluminum. You'll want to begin with an abrasive buffing compound and a hard cotton disc.
- 3). Gently press the disc against the aluminum, rubbing the entire area until the compound is rubbed in.
- 4). Change to a soft cotton disc and buff with a less abrasive finishing compound.
