How to Use a Bench Buffer to Polish Aluminum

    • 1). Wash and dry the aluminum with a mild detergent before buffing. Any dust or debris on the aluminum before buffing will be pressed into the finish and could potentially scratch the aluminum.

    • 2). Spread a thin layer of buffing compound onto the aluminum. You'll want to begin with an abrasive buffing compound and a hard cotton disc.

    • 3). Gently press the disc against the aluminum, rubbing the entire area until the compound is rubbed in.

    • 4). Change to a soft cotton disc and buff with a less abrasive finishing compound.
