Usual Blood Pressure and Risk of New-Onset Diabetes

Conclusions

A 20 mm Hg higher SBP was associated with a 58% higher risk of new-onset diabetes, whereas a 10 mm Hg higher DBP was associated with a 52% higher risk of developing diabetes. The strength of the association declined with increasing BMI and age. Further investigation is needed to determine whether this association is causal.
