- 1). Clean the paint with a mild dish soap or automotive soap. Mix the soap with clean water and use a clean cotton rag to clean the painted parts of your motorcycle. Wipe the paint dry with a clean cotton towel.
- 2). Inspect the paint in sunlight. If you see a lot of micro scratches apply a swirl removing buffing compound to the finish. Buff the compound onto the motorcycle paint with a cotton rag and then buff the compound off with a clean cotton towel. A swirl removing compound removes micro scratches from the paint. Use wide circular strokes when buffing the paint with compound.
- 3). Hose off the bike to remove any compound dust from the paint surface. Dry the motorcycle off with a clean towel. If you leave any compound dust on the bike, it could scratch the paint during the process of waxing. When dry, the paint should have a dull look to it as the glaze strips off all the old wax.
- 4). Apply Carnauba wax (or another wax approved for automotive paint) with a wax applicator or cotton towel. Allow the wax to dry on the paint, then buff it off with a clean cotton towel.
- 5). Apply a glaze for a highly polished finish in the same manner as you applied the wax.
