I can't help but to wonder what they will come up next at the county fairs.
I mean just incase our lifestyle's are unhealthy enough already they go one step further to over perhaps the largest selection of artery clogging, diabetes inducing foods ever.
For example, the fair that comes to us is now serving not just fried oreos and Twinkies, but also fried butter balls.
Seriously, you now have the option to get 100% real butter dipped in batter and deep fried.
And all it's going to cost you is 400 calories and 30 grams of fat.
If that doesn't get your taste buds watering, there is also the option of the doughnut burger.
Thats a cheeseburger patty slapped between two glazed doughnuts, and for the extra cost of one dollar you can add a slice of chocolate covered bacon.
I wish I could say I was kidding but I could not come up with these items.
It's no surprise why health costs are so outrageous due to overweight and obese people here in America.
What happened to the old fashioned candy apple and cotton candy that used to be at the fair.
Sure it was bad for you, but it doesn't come close with competing with foods mentioned above.
The average person goes to the fair and tries a bit of all the food.
Let's say they get the doughnut burger for dinner and then the fried Snickers for dessert...
that alone is putting down over 1500 calories and more than your daily intake in fat.
So in one night alone you've clogged your arteries (not really, but you know what I mean).
Calories in common fair food: Fried Snickers: 444 Calories; 29 grams of fat Fried Twinkies: 420 Calories, 34 grams of fat Funnel Cake: 760 Calories, 44 grams of fat Fried Cheesecake: 655 Calories, 47 grams of fat Doughnut Burger: 1500 Calories To counter act with this and work it off you would have to run around 15 miles.
And who would be able to run one mile after a meal like this? Sure it is OK to let lose from time to time but to these extremes is a bit crazy and definitely not worth it.
I find it hilarious that they do offer vegetables at our fair, but even these are all deep fried.
My tip for fair survival is to eat before going.
That way you're not starving and forced to eat.
Just think, if you're not used to eating like this you're stomach will not appreciate it and you're likely to be miserable the remainder of the time you're there.
It's best to just eat before or pack a quick bite in your back pack or purse.
You and your body will thank you that night and the next few days later.
