- 1). Check the Power Pak pump location. Where the Power Pak pump is placed can affect how it operates. The pump must be on level ground with good drainage. It also requires a location with good air flow. The air vents are located near the bottom of the pump. Grass, water or anything obstructing the vents will affect the pump's efficiency.
- 2). Compare the pool water level to the pump level. The Power Pak pump should be installed at the same level or as close to the pool water level as possible. Placing the filter too high will cause the pump to work extra hard to suction the water from the pool to the pump. Placing it too low forces it to work overly hard to push the water back into the pool.
- 3). Look for excess debris in the skimmer basket and the pump basket. If the Power Pak is having a difficult time circulating the water, it may be because the water supply is clogged. Remove all excess dirt, leaves and debris from the skimmer basket and the pump basket.
- 4). Monitor the pool water level. If the water level in the pool drops too low, air will enter the pool filter system through the skimmer. The Power Pak pump creates a vacuum environment for optimal cleaning efficiency. Air in the system will disrupt the vacuum environment. The pool water level should reach mid height of the skimmer opening to prevent air from getting in the system.
- 5). Clean the filter. Sometimes you can't tell if the problem is in the pump or the filter. If you have a weak water return flow and the gauge on the filter housing is running high (8 to 10 points higher than when you last cleaned the filter), then the problem is in the filter and not the Power Pak pump. Backwash the pool filter and your water return flow will improve.
