Problems a Certified Nursing Assistant May Be Faced With

Regardless of what industry you go in to, there are always going to be problems to deal with.
This is especially true if you are beginning a job and are at the bottom of the list, or are new to a company.
As a CNA, you are at the bottom of the line as far as the healthcare field is concerned, but there are a slew of issues and dilemmas or problems you may be faced with on a daily basis from staff as well as patients or even their families.
If you are new to a facility, another CNA may be intimidated by you as you are fresh meat.
There are some cases where a nursing assistant is so bothered by some situations that they often times quit before a problem can be resolved.
Issues with Other Staff If you are training with another nursing assistant, there may be times they are jealous of you and sometimes they think you are going to take their job.
They may not show you everything that they should and this can lead to disagreements.
They may harass you and cal you names or spread gossip around about you that is not even true.
Nurses that you are reporting to may overwork you or have you do things that you should not even be doing.
They may tell you that some things you would normally do for a patient should not be done and this should be reported at once.
Issues with Patients When you are working as a certified nursing assistant, you will come across at some point in time difficult patients.
This can all depend on the type of facility you are working in.
For instance, if you are working in a facility that helps Alzheimer patients, you should be prepared for some rude and mean patients while some are going through dementia and can be dangerous at times.
They can snap at any time, and if this happens, the best thing to do is to make sure they are safe.
You should call for help if things get a little too out of control.
Adjusting There are times when you will be required to lift patients that are rather heavy.
This can be a problem because you need to know proper lifting techniques.
If there is no one around, you are taking a big chance lifting the patient.
If the patient falls, it can look bad on you as well as the facility.
Asking for help is the biggest tip to getting the job done right as well as ensuring you are covering your butt from anything being your fault.
Working as a nursing assistant can be a challenging job and can require some getting used to.
The best thing to do is to report all problems to the supervisors to ensure that all issues and problems are taken care of.
This will ensure that you are not taken advantage of and you can perform your tasks.
