Adobe flash is an application that enables you to create robust and reliable dynamic content and multimedia applications which might require some kind of interaction from the user especially when used on the web. Flash is generally used because it is easy to control and animate just anything which is a part of the webpage. Application designers use flash extensively to build new applications as a part of the web design process because it allows the new webpage to be displayed without getting refreshed every time some other action takes place. Flash enables the user to use fonts that are customized in addition to the standard ones. WebPages often avoid HTML just to use flash completely. But a combination of HTML and Flash always makes a good webpage. This is because.gif files and.jpeg files can be easily dealt with, and on the user end download speed wouldn't slow down. The best thing about flash is that unauthorized duplication is not possible and the content is always safe since it cannot be manipulated either. Flash has created a successful way of creating websites. Moreover learning how to work with flash is also not very difficult. Flash has the additional advantage of being compatible with advanced typography. Advanced typography is not supported by CSS or HTML. Since it is a part of the Adobe Corporation, Flash is a self-contained application and is not available in the open.
Web browsers also do not have any integration with Flash. If you click the back button in the internet explorer while browsing a webpage, the page has to rewind back to the previous page that was in use. But if the previous page had a flash application then the browser will be unable reproduce the flash application. The same goes for the reload button. It will not reload just a part of the flash file, but it will restart the whole process of downloading the entire flash file again. Adobe Flash needs to installed in the computer before you can view a webpage that has flash applications else the browser would terminate the action and will ask you to install Adobe Flash first and then proceed. However adobe flash is not that difficult to install and most of the systems which have internet access all over the world will have flash installed.
Flash also faces a few problems like improper use of webpage space and readjustments when the size of the browser changes. It also uses interfaces that are not standardized and might get confusing if some other web designer wanted to modify a few things in your web page. Search engines also cannot look into a flash program and look for results. However, this might not be true for a long time now. This is because Adobe has already collaborated with Google to find a solution for reading flash applications in a website. Alternate content was a way of supporting browsers that did not support Flash and get noticed by the search engines.
