Ideas for planning a family picnic

A picnic is a perfect way for families to get together. It will always be best for the person planning a picnic to know the attendees who will be coming so to best plan the days events. Of course, if they are your family members, you'll know them well enough anyway.
Let me give you some tips for organizing a family picnic that everyone will enjoy.
The fun party picnic invitations should be sent out. Rounding everyone up with a few telephone calls if your family is not that large might be the easy way to go. Invitations including RSVP's may be needed if you are blessed with a larger brood. You surely wouldn't want to prepare food and drinks for fifty guests and have eighty show up.
Sometimes people tend to get a little testy about their food.
You should allow two to three weeks before your picnic event for the invitation process. Planning a picnic requires the perfect location to have your picnic start your search for that ideal place. Usually public parks have large sheltered areas for large parties. You'll need to judge the size of your shelter on the number of invitations sent out times two. The amount of invitations times two will give you a rough estimate.
Children may be at the picnic.
For a moment let's discuss the location. Designate a place that would be good for childrens activities. Tennis courts, paddle boats, or a playground would be good choices. People could go out on the water while others could find games to play with the family. Taking a hike after a satisfying lunch would be fun. Find a trail and a buddy and you are ready for adventure.
It will be important to choose your spot in an area that has good accessibility for those with small children and the elderly.
Here comes the challenging part. It's time to choose the picnic menu. Our family is anything but traditional, although we do know what is traditionally served at a picnic. You may entertain the thought that some people might be vegetarians or non-meat eaters. Religious or health reasons may be the reason some people may not eat pork or beef.
The picnic menu will need to be taken into account for those attending.
Another good tip would be to bring several chicken dishes that have been cooked beforehand to the gathering. With the hot dogs, hamburgers and ribs grilling on the grill, buffet services, sternos could be keeping the other meats warm.
To keep hot foods hot and cold food cold use chafing dishes for the entire time your are picnicking.
For an entertaining event be sure to have lots of games on hand for all those kids at your picnic. A really memorable time for all would be to sing songs together or tell childhood stories about each other.
A good dose of laughter, play and great food is all it takes for a family gathering to be a success. Share and Enjoy:
