Blogging is an excellent way to tell people about a hobby or pastime that you have.
Most Blogs are shared between friends or family members and amounts to a few pages and contains possibly video or picture content.
There are increasing numbers of people that have recognised the size and potential of the world wide web in order to make money.
Some people are making serious amounts of money at this but the downside is that there are plenty more that could but give up before they see any financial gain.
The way to succeed is to start a blog that you are actually interested in, because you will not mind updating the content of your site if it is a labour of love.
An excellent site to start blogging is blogger.
com which is totally free to register with and makes it very easy for you if you are new to blogging.
If you are a little apprehensive about blogging then there are various video tutorials that you will find on you tube.
One of the main problems with initial start ups is that whoever hosts your site can take a long time to register it through Google or Yahoo and so it does not matter how many pages your blog has or what fantastic content it may have, because it will not be seen by anyone.
I implore anyone that wishes to start a blog to make money, to do their homework first.
You must have a domain name for your site that makes it relevant but has not been used by lots of other people.
One way to check this is to make up a name and Google search it.
If it registers that there are several million similar sites, then suffice to say you should think of a different name for your blog.
The main way to generate quality traffic to your site is to be on the first page of the search engine.
Again this could take a long time to achieve, as it depends on the quality of your site, its content and usage.
Older sites tend to list higher up, so this is a marathon rather than a sprint.
